Patented Technology
The technological and innovative core of the Company is a platform technology found in the FemmePharma patents (U. S. Patent numbers 5,993,856 and 6,416,778, Notice of Allowance Patent 10/147,762). This is a unique method of drug delivery that is highly effective in treating
women's diseases and disorders that are amenable to a local or regional approach, including
pelvic disease and reproductive system diseases and disorders. The invention covers methods of use and formulations of drugs. The benefit of this invention is that an effective amount of drugs may be administered in very small volumes directly to a targeted area of disease or disorder through intraperitoneal, intravaginal or directly on the reproductive organs of interest. The drug classes covered include a broad spectrum of those that are used in the treatment of women's diseases and disorders of the female pelvic and reproductive organs. They may be delivered in various forms including paste, foams, sprays and solid dosage forms.
PARDEL™ (Pelvic and Reproductive Delivery) is one of the Company's patented platform technologies. PARDEL™ delivers the drug directly to the pelvic and reproductive areas, with preferred absorption and migration into the affected areas.

For drugs given locally to treat pelvic disease and reproductive system diseases and disorders, such a delivery system can result in reduction of side effects by lowering the dose and bypassing significant systemic circulatory levels. In the case of steroids, high blood levels of an active drug and its metabolites and first pass liver effect are thought to be important in contributing to the side effects of these drugs when absorbed orally. A lower dose given locally to the affected pelvic and reproductive organs may significantly improve the efficacy while reducing or eliminating side effects.
Like PARDEL™, DERMODEL™ (patents pending) is targeted to a specific region of disease or disorder; in this case, a dermal delivery to a specific region of
the pelvic disease or reproductive system disorder. It does not require patches or special devices to allow drugs to penetrate the stratum corneum and reach the areas of disease or disorder. The
DERMODEL™ technology will provide local delivery of a pharmaceutically acceptable agent without the associated side effects seen by other transdermally delivered products.
FemmePharma has applied for additional patents for covering methods of use and composition of matter in a variety of women's diseases and disorders with novel drug candidates.
